CANTON, Ga. – The Southern Athletic Association announced the 2024-25 men's basketball preseason poll on Wednesday. The Millsaps men's basketball team received nine points and are predicted to finish seventh in the conference.
Last year the Majors finished with a 7-18 (6-8 SAA) record and placed sixth out of then eight teams. Teams in third, fourth and fifth secured 7-7 records. Head coach Michael Prather looks for his team to have to move up the conference ladder in the wild and rowdy SAA.
The Majors are excited to have 2023-24 All-SAA Honorable Mention guard Cameron Lumar back in the starting lineup for his sophomore season. Along with his teammate senior Nicholas Ughovwa, the Majors hope for great productivity out of the two.
The Majors also have senior forward Drew Roth and fifth year guard TJ Hogan returning for their projected final campaigns. Roth was the team leader in rebounding last season and Hogan was a defensive force. They hope for an all-around team effort, but these four gentlemen are key in having a turnaround season for the Majors.
Millsaps is predicted to finish seventh in the SAA with nine points. Sewanee is predicted to claim first with 32 points and four first-place votes.
Oglethorpe earned the second spot with 30 points and two first-place tallies. Reigning SAA champions Berry fell to number three with 26 points and one first-place vote.
