ATLANTA – The Millsaps men's and women's tennis quartet of Camille Fremaux, Madison Williams, Carson Chassaignac and Sam Tuli were recognized by league coaches as All-Southern Athletic Association student-athletes after strong regular seasons, announced on Thursday.
On the women's side, Fremaux made All-SAA First Team Singles, Williams secured All-SAA Second Team Singles and the duo were selected All-SAA Second Team Doubles. From the men's team, Chassaignac was named All-SAA Second Team Singles and he teamed up with Tuli to make All-SAA Second Team Doubles.
Fremaux, a graduate from Baton Rouge, La., finished the regular season with an impressive 5-2 record in league play on Court One singles. She was named the SAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Tuesday and becomes a four-time member of the All-SAA Team during her decorated career. Fremaux received the same First Team honor in 2021 prior to the Majors becoming SAA Regular Season and Postseason Champions.
Williams, a senior hailing from Slidell, La., was a solid 4-3 in SAA play on Court Two singles, helping the Majors claim three conference wins and advance to the 2024 SAA Women's Tennis Championship.
In doubles, Fremaux and Williams enter the weekend as the two-time reigning SAA Doubles Athletes of the Week. The duo finished conference competition at 5-2 on Court Two, including four straight doubles triumphs.
Chassaignac, also from Baton Rouge, La. held down Court One singles all season. The sophomore earned quality wins over an NCAA Division I opponent from Nicholls State as well as a late-season triumph over Oglethorpe.
Tuli, a fellow sophomore from Ocean Springs, Miss., paired well with Chassaignac on Court One doubles. The duo finished with six wins on the season, including three victories in SAA action.
The Millsaps women's tennis program now treks to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to battle in the 2024 SAA Women's Tennis Championship, starting at 1 p.m. on Friday. The Majors enter as the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 seed Centre in the Quarterfinal match at the Adams Tennis Complex. Live scoring is expected and a full preview is available at gomajors.com.
