ATLANTA – Millsaps softball trio
Allana Vasquez,
Molli Perry and
Katie Norris excelled during the spring campaign and each earned placement on the 2024 All-Southern Athletic Association Softball Team, announced on Monday. Conference coaches voted Vasquez First Team All-SAA as a designated player, Perry secured Second Team All-SAA as an outfielder and Norris was named Honorable Mention All-SAA in a press release.
Vasquez became the first Millsaps softball freshman to be selected First Team All-SAA since
Megan Murray did so in 2014. Vasquez primarily split time as designated player with several appearances in the circle and at the plate.
The Udine, Italy, product started all 37 games, finishing first on the team with a .342 batting average, .570 slugging percentage, .406 on-base percentage, 26 RBIs, four home runs and 14 doubles. She was also second on the team with 39 hits and tied for second with 16 runs. On April 6 at Sewanee, Vasquez tallied two doubles and homered to tie the Millsaps single-game RBI mark with seven.
In the circle, the freshman appeared in 19 games while starting in 15. Vasquez totaled a team-best 96 innings pitched, 11 complete games, 46 strikeouts and a 4.45 ERA. She was twice named the SAA Athlete of the Week as a pitcher on Feb. 12 and April 1.
Perry was another terrific player to watch during the 2024 season. The senior center fielder became a four-time All-SAA performer after twice making the First Team and twice securing recognition on the Second Team.
The Kaplan, La., native appeared and started in 36 games for the Majors. Perry's .328 batting average and .960 fielding percentage was second on the team and she led the squad with 40 hits, 19 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. The 2022 SAA Softball Player of the Year completed her decorated Millsaps career with 107 stolen bases.
Classmate Norris made her third career appearance on the All-SAA Team. She was tabbed Honorable Mention All-SAA on two occasions and made All-SAA Second Team a year ago.
The left fielder started all 37 games with a .321 batting average a senior. Norris was second on the team with 11 doubles and a .395 on-base percentage, while pacing the team with 14 walks. The Hoover, Ala., native was also tied for second with 16 runs scored and third overall with 35 hits.
