FLOWOOD, Miss. — The Millsaps men's golf team capped off their fall season with a strong showing at the Belhaven Invitational, held at The Refuge Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday. The Majors posted an impressive fourth-place team performance against a competitive field.
Sophomore Charlie Berglund led the way for Millsaps, recording rounds of 73 and 76 for a total of 149 (+5). His consistent play secured him a career-best placement and his first-ever top-10 finish, tying for seventh overall.
Senior Steven Noack delivered a standout performance of his own, carding rounds of 82 and 69 for a two-day total of 151 (+7). His second-round 69 marked a new career low for a round, while his overall score tied his best 36-hole mark, resulting in a tie for 11th place. The three-under performance in round two also matched the lowest round of the tournament.
Junior Jason Howe matched his career-best 36-hole score in relation to par, finishing with a 75–79–159 (+15).
Sophomores Miles Harrison and Noble Burns also turned in solid outings — Harrison tied for 21st after a 76–79–155 (+11) showing, while Burns tied for 30th with an 80–79–159 (+15).
Berglund, Noack, Howe and Harrison combined to shoot plus-30 and push the Majors to a fourth-place finish out of 11 teams. The Majors also fielded a B team.
Freshman William Jeonsson impressed with steady improvement across both rounds, shooting 83–76–159 (+15) to surpass his previous career-best 36-hole mark by four strokes.
Junior Davin Karst rounded out the tournament with an 80–88–168 (+24), achieving a new personal best for a 36-hole tournament.
The tournament also marked the Millsaps debuts for freshmen Joshua Gitau and Jacen Trinta. Trinta carded an 87–82–169 (+25) to tie for 52nd, while Gitau finished close behind in 57th with rounds of 87–87–174 (+30).
The Majors' performance at The Refuge showcased the team's depth and growth throughout the fall, highlighted by Berglund's breakthrough top 10 finish and Noack's career day. Millsaps will now turn its focus toward preparation for the spring season with momentum and confidence.
