GREENWOOD, Ind. – A group of four Millsaps scholar-athletes received recognition after being selected to the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams. Seniors Fran Edwards and Abigail Henry alongside graduate Bryan Sullivan and sophomore William Sullivan were each honored by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their athletic pursuits and excellence in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be nominated by CSC members, student-athletes must have maintained a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and eligible nominees were based off TFRRS regional performance rankings at the time of nomination, excluding relays. For NCAA institutions in indoor or outdoor track and field, a student-athlete must be ranked in the top 50 in at least one event. For cross country, an individual must have finished in the top 50 in a 2024 NCAA regional competition.
Graduating with a government and politics degree with a minor in anthropology and film studies, Edwards completed with an impressive 3.95 GPA.
Dedicating time to her academic studies, Edwards landed back-to-back spots on the CSC Academic All-District Team and is an eight-time member of the SAA Academic Honor Roll across both cross country and track and field.
The 2025 Millsaps spring graduate also received honors in Government and Politics and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Edwards was also given the Peace and Justice Award.
Excelling well on the track, Edwards was locked in during her senior campaign as she shattered three school records while appearing in five meets.
In the 2025 Millsaps track and field season opener, Edwards paced her way to becoming the program's all-time leader in the indoor 5000 meters after finishing first place at the Samford Bulldog Invitational with a time of 19:20 minutes, 83 seconds on Feb 15. She would rank 31st in the South Region by season's end.
Edwards set another school record on March 14 at the Rhodes Invitational. The Little Rock, Ark., native covered the 10,000 meters in second place with a mark of 40:55.63.
She bettered this time again after finishing strong in the 2025 SAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship with fifth-place showing on April 25. Her time of 39:52.53 placed the veteran 17th in the NCAA Division III South Region Outdoor Track and Field rankings.
On April 12, Edwards pushed her way through the finish line to become the Millsaps women's track and field all-time leading runner in the outdoor 5000 meters, where she clocked 18:40.97 at the Rhodes 7 Way Meet. She placed fourth in the event and 30th in the region.
Majoring in psychology with a minor in government and politics, Henry's knowledge in the classroom displayed a 3.86 cumulative GPA following the 2024-25 season.
The 2025 Millsaps Spring Graduate received honors and awards in Psychology, including Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, the Noam Chomsky Psychology Award, and the Outstanding Scholarship in Education Award. She was also recognized with the Academic Consultant of the Year Award.
Henry's consistent academic achievements have boasted two consecutive appearances on the CSC Academic All-District® Team as well.
The Little Rock Ark., native has been named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll on eight occasions.
In the fall of 2025, Henry will continue her success by stepping into the classroom in Taiwan as an English teacher. Henry recently won the prestigious Fulbright award, becoming the 13th Millsaps student to be granted this award.
After completing the Fulbright program, Henry plans to pursue a master's degree in social work at Washington University in St. Louis to become a licensed clinical social worker.
Henry earned the Noam Chomsky Psychology Award and the Outstanding Scholarship in Education Award. She was also named the Academic Consultant of the Year and received Honors in Psychology. Additionally, she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa.
Henry closed out her collegiate athletic career by finishing 47th in the NCAA Division III South Region Outdoor Track and Field rankings, where she posted a 48:48.55 at the 2025 SAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Bryan Sullivan, a Millsaps swimming and diving All-American, has been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive year in track and field following an outstanding season.
Representing his hometown of Jackson, Miss., proudly, he has been a member of Club 40 with a perfect 4.0 GPA on seven occasions since it was founded in 2022.
During his second graduate campaign, Sullivan appeared in four meets. On March 22, he set a career best in the javelin at the Belhaven Invitational, where he launched a toss of 44.39 meters.
Rounding out his stellar collegiate career, Sullivan placed 23rd in the NCAA Division III South Region Outdoor Track and Field rankings after his quality performance.
Following in his brother's footsteps, William Sullivan is a neuroscience major who holds a perfect 4.0 GPA.
In his first collegiate athletic year with the Majors, Sullivan was named to the Spring 2025 President's List for his scholastic achievements in the classroom.
On March 1, Sullivan opened his track and field career at the Mississippi College Spring Classic. The distance runner set what would become a season-best time in the 5,000 meters by finishing in 16:55.33.
Sullivan later ranked 46th in the NCAA Division III South Region Outdoor Track and Field rankings in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He ran 11:07.98 at the 2025 SAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to finish 12th in the race.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 15, 2025 (women) and July 16, 2025 (men).
