Mike Harrison was a standout student-athlete at Jackson Prep and excelled in both football and baseball from 1973 to 1977. Beginning his freshman year on the defensive line, Harrison transitioned to the offensive line for the remaining three seasons, where he played a pivotal role in blocking for Millsaps greats like Ricky Haygood, Bryon Stallworth, Dees Hinton and David Gervais.
His contributions were instrumental in the success of the 1975 football team, which made history by becoming the first Millsaps squad to qualify for the NCAA Division III Playoffs, defeating Colorado College in their opening game. The 1976 team also achieved significant recognition, reaching as high as No. 3 in the national rankings after a strong 3-0 start. In addition to his football prowess, Harrison excelled on the baseball diamond, pitching all four years for the Majors. He capped off his impressive career with a memorable no-hitter against Principia College.
