Will Hawkins was a phenomenal two-way star linebacker and corner infielder. He dominated the SCAC conference, earning two Defensive Player of the Year honors and racking up All-American accolades from D3football.com, the Associated Press and AFCA. The Nettleton, Miss., native is also on the All-Time CAC/SCAC Football Team, which dates back to 1962.
His performance in 2010 was particularly noteworthy, leading in the conference in solo tackles and leading his team to three conference championships from 2007 to 2009. His 83 solo tackles accumulated in 2010 still rank third in SCAC history. The 2008 team also advanced to the NCAA postseason and earned a triumph over LaGrange College.
Hawkins wasn't a one-sport wonder after being named All-SCAC all four seasons in baseball. He excelled on the diamond, leading the SCAC in hits, doubles, and RBIs in 2009. He was named the SCAC Player of the Year that season and was an All-American Honorable Mention. Hawkins also is a member of the SCAC 30th Anniversary Baseball Team and a three-time All-SCAC First Team selection.
