Majors Pick Up Four Wins at Spring Break Tennis on Monday

Men’s and Women’s Tennis Powered Past Curry College and UHSP

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ORLANDO, Fla. – The Millsaps men's and women's tennis programs each defeated two opponents at Spring Break Tennis on Monday. The women's squad got by Curry College (8-1) and the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (7-1), while the men bested Curry (7-0) and UHSP (8-1). Each match was held at the USTA National Campus Collegiate Center in Florida.

Women's Recap vs. Curry: 8-1

The Majors used a dominant performance to earn an 8-1 win over Curry College to open the day. Millsaps jumped out early with a 3-0 lead after doubles play having only dropped three games total. Camille Fremaux and Morris Kelly Clayton were 8-2 winners on Court 1, Sarah Hayek and Madison Williams cruised to an 8-1 verdict on Court 2 and Mackenzie Vordick along with Amelia Christy swept Court 3, 8-0.

Clayton was tough in singles on Court 2, with a 6-0, 6-3 winner. Both freshmen Mary Dabadie and Segen Lister only dropped one game each on Courts 3 and 5, respectively. Christy and Camille Landry posted emphatic 6-0, 6-0 triumphs on Courts 4 and 6.

Women's Recap vs. UHSP: 7-1

Millsaps and UHSP played eight single pro-sets since the Eutectics only had four players. Each UHSP student-athlete played twice, while eight different Majors competed. The seven Millsaps competitors who were victorious were Fremaux, Marissa Brown, Clayton, Dabadie, Williams, Vordick and Landry.

Men's Recap vs. Curry: 7-0

The Millsaps men's team made quick work of Curry College in their opening match. Trevor Vaccaro and Hamilton Jackson along with Brady St. Martin and Kells Hecht earned 8-0 clean sweeps on Courts 1 and 2. There were no matches on doubles Court 3 or singles Court 5.

All five Majors either swept their foes or dropped just one game in singles. The winning Majors included Vaccaro, Jackson, Hecht, Sam Willard and Luke Seelmann.

Men's Recap vs. UHSP: 8-1

The men's squad had another outstanding match after another clean sweep of doubles. Vaccaro and Jackson (8-1), John Kimball and Jakub Bobinski (8-1) as well as Hecht / St. Martin gave Millsaps a 3-0 start.

Needing only two sets to dispatch their foes were Kimball, Jackson, Bobinski, St. Martin and Luke Seelmann. Kimball / Bobinski along with Seelmann were named the SAA Doubles Team and Singles Player of the Week. Vacarro battled in a gritty, three-set defeat on Court 1.
