ATLANTA – A pair of Millsaps men's and women's track and field student-athletes were recognized by the Southern Athletic Association for their efforts at the Hendrix Alumni Open. Sophomore
Natalie Burke was named the SAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while senior
Christopher Butler earned SAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week recognition, the conference office announced on Monday.
Burke bounded to a win in the women's triple jump at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium on Saturday, March 11. Burke covered 10.29 meters (33 feet, 9.25 inches). Additionally, Burke was sixth in the long jump (4.69 meters) and was seventh in the 200-meter dash (28.23 seconds).
Butler triumphed in the men's long jump by recording a leap of 6.72 meters (22 feet, 0.75 inches). Butler also finished fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.65).
The Majors continue their season at the Belhaven Invitational in Jackson, Miss. on Saturday, March 25.
