Alex Bremond netted goals for the Majors on a warm night at Harper Davis Field.
Hinds (1-1) tallied a 13-8 shot advantage with an 8-4 on-target advantage. Sophomore goalkeeper
Emily Lozano made five saves, while sophomore
Alexa Dubrow was credited with an assist.
Following an Eagles corner kick, a Lozano save led to a Major clearance that deflected into the back of the net. Hinds took an early 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.
A foul in the Millsaps defensive box lead to a crucial penalty shot attempt early in the match, 27 minutes in. Lozano dove to her left and stopped the chance and the resulting rebound was sailed over the crossbar.
Using the momentum to their advantage, the Majors connected on a beautiful through ball to Ranager. She made a move around the Eagle goalkeeper and deposited the shot into the back of the net, opening the 38th minute.
The Eagles would strike twice quickly to end the half and claim a 3-1 edge, including goals in the 42nd and 45th minute.
Millsaps would counter and hold more offensive time in the second half and produce several quality chances that were stopped or sent just wide.
Dubrow passed the ball across the box and Bremond collected the ball. Bremond then curled the ball into the top-right corner in the 77th minute, giving the Majors even more life.
Bremond followed with a shot over the net in the 79th minute and Dubrow produced a chance in the 81st minute to fall just short of equalizing the contest.
