CANTON, Ga. – The Millsaps women's track and field program made history by sweeping Southern Athletic Association weekly plaudits on Monday. Senior
Fran Edwards was voted the SAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week and junior
Eleanor Scott was selected the SAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week by league coaches.
It was the first time the Majors swept both honors since the SAA began sponsoring men's and women's track and field as a sport in 2013.
Edwards set the program record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 40 minutes, 55.63 seconds at the Rhodes Invitational on Friday. She placed runner-up at the Wolfe Track and Field Complex.
Scott opened her season by finishing third in the triple jump with a bound of 10.34 meters (33 feet, 11.25 inches) at the Wolfe Track and Field Complex on Friday.
The Clinton, Miss., product earned her second SAA weekly honor of her career after earning the same recognition in March of 2023.
The Millsaps men's and women's track and field programs will be back in action at the Belhaven Invitational next Saturday, March 22. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
